In addition, the Lion Farm Services team are always here to support our farmers.
The number of questions within each module varies, so does the amount of time to complete each module. On average, it takes 15 minutes to complete each question. The Animal Welfare and Environment sections contain the most amount of questions, so these modules will take longer to complete than the others. The great thing about the self-assessment is that you can stop at any point or skip sections, then resume at a later more convenient time.
As a secure site, the information entered in the system cannot be accessed without a username and password. Each username and password is unique to the dairy supplier. Providing honest and transparent responses to the self-assessment will help to identify areas that are performing well and ones that need additional focus. Whilst our Farm Services Team cannot access this information via the system, they are committed to working with you throughout this program.
The star rating refers to your level of farm sustainability; which means the greater the number of stars, the higher the level of sustainability on your farm. The star rating is across each individual module as well as an overall star rating which is an average of all the modules. The following defines the star rating in more detail: Five stars: Well done, your farm is considered to have a high level of sustainability in all areas of the Lion Dairy Pride Program modules. Four stars: Most areas are on track – your farm business has a very good level of sustainability, keep trying to reach the 5 stars! Three stars: Some areas are on track – your farm is looking pretty good, but there is still a way to go to reach a high level of sustainability. Two stars: A couple of areas are looking good – but still plenty of room to improve sustainability on your farm. One star: Needs urgent attention – a way to go to reach a high level of sustainability. No stars: Needs urgent attention – none of the areas are on track to reach a high level of sustainability.
The reason for participating in the self-assessment is to clearly understand the strengths and focus areas of your farm business. It’s important to set clear actions to improve the areas needing your focus, which may consist of both short and long term plans. Lion will work closely with you to increase your star rating and provide guidance around your planning options.
No, the information is not associated to a contract; they are indicative ratings to give you an understanding of how you are progressing towards a sustainable farm, highlighting areas of your farm business that may need action.
